My Journey as A Percussionist

I was first drawn to the marimba because its sound is softer and more lyrical than string or wind instruments, and I found the complex structure of its scores uniquely enjoyable. Since my school did not have a marimba, I spent three years as a member of the school band, learning and performing a variety of percussion instruments. At the same time, I joined an external orchestra as a timpani player, which allowed me to experience the dynamics of large-scale ensemble music. Through these musical experiences, I not only deepened my technical skills but also learned the importance of teamwork, discipline, and collaboration.

This is me practicing the timpani for the orchestra.

This is me playing the guiro during the encore of our regular concert in the last year.

Having only played the timpani and drums performing on a Latin instrument was a new experience.

I was nervous to play, however my friend right next to me kept me calm.

I performed in two annual concerts each year, most recent performance: Eins Symphony Orchestra Recital, Aram Concert Hall, in Korea, June 2025.
